Red Wings sign D Andy Delmore to 1-year contract

The Detroit Red Wings have signed free-agent defenseman Andy Delmore to a one-year contract.

DETROIT —

The Detroit Red Wings have signed free-agent defenseman Andy Delmore to a one-year contract.

The team announced the deal Tuesday but did not disclose terms.

The 32-year-old native of LaSalle, Ontario, has spent the last two seasons playing for the Hamburg Freezers in Germany. He previously played with Philadelphia, Nashville, Buffalo and Columbus.

Delmore has 101 points and 105 penalty minutes in 283 career NHL games. He won the Eddie Shore Award as the American Hockey League's best defenseman while playing for Syracuse in the 2005-2006 season.
