The San Diego Padres activated catcher Henry Blanco and infielder David Eckstein off the disabled list before the second game of their series against the Reds.
Blanco and Eckstein have been sidelined since early July with strained hamstrings. Both were in the starting lineup Tuesday against Cincinnati. The Padres designated catcher Jose Lobaton for assignment to the minors and optioned outfielder Drew Macias to Triple-A Portland to open roster spots.
The Padres also acquired right-hander Sean Gallagher from Oakland to complete the trade for outfielder Scott Hairston on July 5. The 23-year-old Gallagher went 1-2 with an 8.16 ERA in six games for the A's this season.
Gallagher, who is recovering from a strained left knee, will be assigned to Portland.
