Arizona claims reliever Boyer from Cardinals
The Arizona Diamondbacks have claimed right-handed reliever Blaine Boyer off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have claimed right-handed reliever Blaine Boyer off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.
Arizona will be Boyer's third team this year. He started the season with Atlanta, was traded to St. Louis and claimed by the Diamondbacks on Monday.
The 27-year-old Boyer pitched in 15 games for the Cardinals this season. He had no decisions and a 4.41 ERA. He made seven straight scoreless outings from April 30 to May 12.
Boyer could bolster a bullpen that has been one of Arizona's glaring weaknesses. He has played parts of six seasons in the majors, going 6-9 with a 5.33 ERA in 144 games.
The Cardinals got Boyer from Atlanta on April 20 in a trade for outfielder Brian Barton.
