Prep Tennis Roundup | Kentwood's Max Manthou claims third title
Max Manthou claimed his third consecutive Class 4A boys singles championship Saturday at the Tri-City Court Club, getting past Kentridge junior Matt Overland 6-2, 7-6.

KENNEWICK — Three down, one to go for Kentwood tennis player Max Manthou.
Manthou claimed his third consecutive Class 4A boys singles championship Saturday at the Tri-City Court Club, getting past Kentridge junior Matt Overland 6-2, 7-6.
A week ago, Manthou beat Overland 6-0, 6-4 for the West Central District title.
If he chooses to play high-school tennis again next spring, Manthou will have a chance to become the first four-time Class 4A boys singles champ.
In 4A girls singles, Meghan Cassens of Decatur stopped Antonia Liebenow of Lake Stevens 6-1, 6-1 in the final. Cassens was state runner-up as a freshman a year ago. Her victory helped Decatur tie Kamiakin and Newport for the girls team championship. Richland won the boys crown.
Allen wins in 3A
VANCOUVER — Natalie Allen of Holy Names won the Class 3A girls singles title, beating Mercer Island sophomore Chelsea Bailey 6-2, 6-4 at Vancouver Tennis Complex.
It was a rematch of their Sea-King District final last weekend, which Allen also won.
She got to the title match with a difficult, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 semifinal triumph over Victoria Tam of Union.
Anissa Bryant-Swift and Malia Lum of Sammamish stopped Catherine Fitch and Catherine Phelps of Lakeside in the doubles title match, 6-2, 6-2.
Mercer Island edged Union for the 3A girls team title.
In the boys tournament, Andrew LaCava and Jason Bediones won a boys doubles championship, helping Seattle Prep take the team crown. Lance Wilhelm of Peninsula was the singles champ.

Class 2A
At UW's Nordstrom Tennis Center, South Whidbey senior Lindsey Newman won her third consecutive 2A girls singles title, and her sophomore brother, Riley, won the boys championship. Jason Sheih and Nikita Nosov of Interlake claimed the boys doubles crown.
Class 1A/2B/1B
At the Yakima Tennis Center, freshman Jake Imam of Redmond's Bear Creek School captured the 1A/2B/1B boys singles championship, losing only five games in four matches. Willie Corbit and Ben LeVeque repeated as doubles champions to help University Prep of Seattle win the boys team title after two consecutive runner-up finishes.
