Cink says players should support tour's sponsors
Stewart Cink says pro golfers need to more in tough economic times to support corporations that have made a commitment to the PGA Tour.
Stewart Cink says pro golfers need to more in tough economic times to support corporations that have made a commitment to the PGA Tour.
Cink was in Connecticut on Monday to promote June's Travelers Championship, where he is the defending champion. The insurance company recently committed to sponsoring the event through 2014.
Cink, a member of the PGA Tour Policy Board, said he's not sure all PGA players understand how important it is to compete in tournaments like the Travelers, and he's been trying to emphasize that message.
The tournament, which will be played in June the week after the U.S. Open, received commitments over the weekend from Sergio Garcia, Vijay Singh, Anthony Kim and Stuart Appleby.
