Sounders FC took Major League Soccer and Seattle by storm last month, and forward Fredy Montero provided the lightning.
The 21-year-old from Colombia was named MLS Player of the Month for March after scoring three goals and adding an assist in Sounders FC's two games — both wins.
Sounders FC became only the second expansion team to begin an inaugural campaign with a pair of wins and no losses or ties, and Montero became the 11th MLS player to begin his career with two goals and the eighth player to do so on the league's opening weekend. He scored twice against the New York Red Bulls on March 19 at Qwest Field.
Montero is the league's leading scorer after two games. He was the MLS Player of the Week last week and Wednesday won his second straight Goal of the Week honor.
