The recent flooding from heavy rains has forced Crystal Mountain Resort to remain closed for skiers and snowboarders until at least Sunday.

Several mudslides and water over Highway 410, the only way to access Crystal Mountain during the winter, have shut down the road.

The Department of Transportation has told mountain officials they hope to have the highway open by Sunday, but can't make any guarantees.

Crystal Mountain has been closed since Wednesday.

All snowsports multiweek programs and the Miles Smart Steep Camp have been canceled for this weekend.

On the bright side, Crystal Mountain has received 24 inches of new snow the past three days, so great conditions await.

Interstate-90 is accessible, and places such as Alpental, Summit Central and Summit West will be open under normal ski and snowboard operations this weekend.

The roads to Stevens Pass, Mount Baker, White Pass, Mission Ridge ski and snowboard areas are also open, and all are under normal operations for this weekend. The ski lifts at Hurricane Ridge are not open yet.

Travelers are advised to check the Department of Transportation Web site for up-to-date road conditions.
