Backup QB Simms to transfer from Louisville
Louisville's football coach says quarterback Matt Simms will transfer from the program.
Louisville's football coach says quarterback Matt Simms will transfer from the program.
In a statement from the university, coach Steve Kragthorpe says Simms told him of his desire to transfer and said he wishes Simms the best. The release did not say where Simms would go.
Simms is the son of Phil Simms, the 1987 Super Bowl MVP and television sports broadcaster.
Simms was a redshirt freshman during the 2008-09 season and saw action in two games as a backup to Hunter Cantwell. Simms completed four passes for 39 yards, and threw one interception.
Cardinals' junior quarterbacks Tyler Wolfe and Justin Burke, and junior college signee Adam Froman are expected to compete for the starting job next season.
