Garrison Carr scored 22 points and hit five 3-pointers as American University defeated Brown 68-53 Friday night.

Derrick Mercer scored 11 points and Jordan Nichols added 10 points for the Eagles (7-6), who used a 13-5 run over the final 3 minutes of the first half to pull away. Carr also hit back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half, extending the American lead.
Carr hit 5 of 7 from beyond the arc in the game, and scored 15 points after halftime in his 100th game for the Eagles.
Matt Mullery scored 16 points and Adrian Williams added 13 for the Bears (5-7), who lost to the Eagles for the first time in five meetings.
Peter Sullivan added 11 points for the Bears, who shot only 34.8 (16 of 46) from the field just one game after hitting 14 of 17 3-pointers against Quinnipiac in their Dec. 29 win.
