Davidson won't have suspended Paulhus Gosselin

A Southern Conference policy on ejections means No. 23 Davidson will be without starting guard Max Paulhus Gosselin against West Virginia at Madison Square Garden.

NEW YORK —

A Southern Conference policy on ejections means No. 23 Davidson will be without starting guard Max Paulhus Gosselin against West Virginia at Madison Square Garden.

The game Tuesday is part of the Jimmy V Classic.

Paulhus Gosselin was ejected in the first half of Saturday's win over North Carolina State for a flagrant foul. While NCAA rules state that players are subject to suspension only for ejections due to fighting, the Southern Conference policy calls for a one-game ban for any ejection due to unsportsmanlike conduct.

Davidson appealed, but league spokesman Jason Yaman said Tuesday that the suspension was upheld.

Paulhus Gosselin is Davidson's top defender. He's averaging 3.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
