Northwestern State tops Alcorn State 77-65

Damon Jones scored his team-high 21 points in 18 minutes as Northwestern State beat Alcorn State 77-65 on Saturday night at the LSU Invitational. The victory gave Northwestern State coach Mike McConathy the 500th win of his career.

Damon Jones scored his team-high 21 points in 18 minutes as Northwestern State beat Alcorn State 77-65 on Saturday night at the LSU Invitational. The victory gave Northwestern State coach Mike McConathy the 500th win of his career.

The Demons (3-2) were assisted by Devin White, who had 15 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks. William Mosley also chipped in with 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.

Alcorn State (0-5) was led by Troy Jackson, who totaled 28 points and a career-high seven steals. Jarvis Williams contributed with 13 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Northwestern State outrebounded Alcorn State 51-33. The Demons also dished out 19 assists, while the Braves totaled only eight.
