Campbell routs UNC-Asheville 94-57

Jonathan Rodriguez scored 19 points to help Campbell rout North Carolina-Asheville 94-57 on Saturday.

BUIES CREEK, N.C. —

Jonathan Rodriguez scored 19 points to help Campbell rout North Carolina-Asheville 94-57 on Saturday.

The 37-point victory margin was Campbell's largest against a Division I opponent since Feb. 6, 1989, when the Camels (2-1) defeated Augusta 99-62.

Campbell converted 20 North Carolina-Asheville turnovers into 29 points. The Camels led 42-28 at halftime, then increased the gap with an 18-2 run.

Lorne Merthie and Amir Celestin had season highs in scoring with 14 points apiece for the Camels. William Kossangue chipped in with 10.

The Bulldogs (3-1), who were trying to get off to a 4-0 start for the second straight year, were stymied by Campbell's 11 of 24 3-pointers and 38-21 advantage on the boards.

Sean Smith led the North Carolina-Asheville with 13 points.
