NASCAR's France not pleased with ABC bumping race

NASCAR chairman Brian France is unhappy with ABC's decision to bump the final laps of last weekend's race in Phoenix to a cable station in favor of "America's Funniest Home Videos."

NASCAR chairman Brian France is unhappy with ABC's decision to bump the final laps of last weekend's race in Phoenix to a cable station in favor of "America's Funniest Home Videos."

France said Tuesday he thinks NASCAR and its fans got "the short end" when the race's last 34 laps were moved to ABC-owned ESPN2. Fans who didn't make the switch missed Sprint Cup points leader Jimmie Johnson wrap up his seventh victory of the season and move closer to his third consecutive points title.

France, however, says the interests of NASCAR and its television partners are "in line" and that a rare early afternoon storm that forced the race to be red flagged twice couldn't be helped.
