Presbyterian holds off North Carolina Central

S.J. Worrell ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns and a late fumble helped Presbyterian hold off a North Carolina Central rally to win 28-24 on Saturday.

The Blue Hose (3-4) jumped out to a 28-10 lead with 3:21 left in the third quarter when Brandon Miley threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Sam Wilson, who finished with 60 yards receiving.

North Carolina Central (1-5) answered with Michael Johnson's 52-yard passing score to Will Scott in the third and Johnson's 24-yard TD pass to Wayne Blackwell, cutting the margin to four points with 3:54 left in the fourth. The Eagles got the ball back with 2:07 remaining in the game and had a chance to win, but Johnson fumbled at the 1-yard line as a Blue Hose defender recovered to help Presbyterian hold on to the win.

Miley threw for 148 yards and a two interceptions for the Blue Hose.

Johnson completed 8 of 9 passes for 159 yards for North Carolina Central, while Tony McCord rushed for 80 yards on 13 carries.
