Favre to start for Jets, as expected
Brett Favre's streak lives on.
Brett Favre's streak lives on.
As expected, the 38-year-old quarterback was set to start for the New York Jets on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals after working through a twisted left ankle during the week.
Favre, injured in the Jets' loss Monday night at San Diego, walked without a limp during pregame warmups in rainy and windy conditions at Giants Stadium. He has started 256 consecutive regular-season games, an NFL record for quarterbacks, but was listed as questionable. Neither he nor coach Eric Mangini seemed concerned during the week that the veteran would be sidelined.
Favre won't have to face playmaking strong safety Adrian Wilson or defensive end Bertrand Berry, both inactive for the Cardinals. Wilson is out with a hamstring injury, and Berry had previously been ruled out with a groin tear.
Also inactive for the Cardinals were running back J.J. Arrington, tackle Brandon Keith, wide receiver Early Doucet, tight end Jerame Tuman and defensive tackle Gabe Watson. Brian St. Pierre was listed as the No. 3 quarterback.
Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins, who missed most of the game against the Chargers, was active for the Jets. He didn't participate in full practice activities Wednesday, and was limited Thursday and Friday.
Inactive for the Jets were cornerback Justin Miller, wide receiver David Clowney, kicker Mike Nugent, punter Reggie Hodges, linebacker Marques Murrell, defensive lineman Kareem Brown and quarterback Erik Ainge. Brett Ratliff was listed as the third quarterback.
