Riggins carries William & Mary past VMI 52-17
Terrence Riggins rushed for a career-high 180 yards on 15 carries and Jonathan Grimes rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns to lead William & Mary to a 52-17 victory over Virginia Military Institute on Saturday night.

Jake Phillips was 13 of 18 for 172 yards and three touchdowns for the Tribe (1-1), who had 570 yards of offense, including 398 on the ground. Phillips also rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown on four carries.
It was the Tribe's 23rd consecutive victory over the Keydets (1-1).
Grimes opened the scoring on a 29-yard run with 1:51 left in the first quarter.
Phillips threw scoring passes of 21 and 28 yards to increase the advantage to 21-0 before VMI's Greg Stevens kicked a 38-yard field goal with 6:26 remaining in the second quarter.
William & Mary padded its lead to 38-3 on Grimes' 12-yard run and Phillips' 19-yard run in the third quarter.
Tim Maypray rushed for 134 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown, on 26 carries to lead VMI. Kyle Hughes added VMI's other touchdown on a 6-yard run in the third quarter.
