White Sox hope Quentin could return for playoffs
The White Sox hope Carlos Quentin could return from his broken wrist in time for the postseason.
The White Sox hope Carlos Quentin could return from his broken wrist in time for the postseason.
The All-Star left fielder had surgery on his right wrist Monday. A screw was inserted into the wrist and Quentin will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks.
"It's going to take awhile," manager Ozzie Guillen said Tuesday. "Hopefully, if we make the playoffs, we can count on him in the playoffs. Right now, to get to the playoffs, I don't think he can help out."
Quentin's injury occurred against Cleveland on Sept. 1.
After fouling off a pitch from Cliff Lee, Quentin hit his right hand on the bat as he was holding it with his left, causing the injury and ending a possible MVP season. Quentin was considered a leading candidate, with a .288 batting average, 36 homers and 100 RBIs.
Chicago entered the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday night against Toronto with a two-game lead in the AL Central over Minnesota.
