Brazil beats Italy to meet US in volleyball final

The Brazilian men's volleyball team defeated Italy 3-1 and will face the United States for the Olympic gold medal on Sunday.

BEIJING —

The Brazilian men's volleyball team defeated Italy 3-1 and will face the United States for the Olympic gold medal on Sunday.

Brazil, which won the gold in the 2004 Athens Games, won 19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22 in the semifinal Friday night.

The United States remained undefeated in Beijing with a five-set victory over Russia in the earlier semifinal.

Italy will face Russia for the bronze medal.
