Bogut sits against US to rest sore right ankle

Andrew Bogut is sitting out Australia's game against the U.S. Olympic basketball team Tuesday night because of a sore right ankle.

SHANGHAI, China —

Andrew Bogut is sitting out Australia's game against the U.S. Olympic basketball team Tuesday night because of a sore right ankle.

The Milwaukee Bucks center says the ankle had been bothering him for a few games and he wants a little more time to rest. An Australian team official says Bogut could have played if this were an Olympic game.

Bogut, the No. 1 pick in the 2005 draft, watched from the team bench in jeans. He says he expects to be ready by Sunday for the Australians' opener in Beijing against Croatia.
