Ohio University has hired Ohio State assistant John Groce as its men's basketball coach.
Ohio University has hired Ohio State assistant John Groce as its men's basketball coach.
The 36-year-old Groce was introduced at a news conference Friday. He had been the top assistant under Ohio State coach Thad Matta for the past four years. He also worked under Matta at Xavier University and at Butler University.
Ohio athletic director Jim Schaus said Groce is known for being a top recruiter and for helping to build winning programs.
The Bobcats finished at 20-13 last season.
Groce replaces Tim O'Shea, who left this week to become head coach at Bryant University in Rhode Island.
