Moon pleads not guilty on DUI charge

Warren Moon entered a not guilty plea Monday at Kirkland Municipal Court to a charge of driving under the influence.

Seattle Times staff reporter

Warren Moon entered a not guilty plea Monday at Kirkland Municipal Court to a charge of driving under the influence.

Moon was arrested about 2 a.m. Dec. 28 after refusing a field sobriety and breath test. The police officer who stopped Moon on Highway 520 said he smelled intoxicants near the vehicle. Moon was also cited for driving with expired tabs. He has paid the fine for that, according to the prosecuting attorney for Medina.

Moon, who played for the Huskies, Seahawks and has been inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, is currently part of the radio broadcast of Seahawks games. He pleaded guilty to a charge of negligent driving in August 2007 after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence the previous April.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled in Moon's current case for March 31. The judge issued pre-trial release conditions, which are standard in a drunk-driving case. Moon was instructed not to consume alcohol and was told he could not refuse a request for a blood or breath test.
