Competitors: 1,544 runners (24 more than last year) from 232 schools in six classifications will compete in 11 races.
Race schedule: Wheelchair race, 10:30 a.m.; 2B/1B girls, 11 a.m.; 1A girls, 11:30 a.m.; 2A girls, noon.; 2B/1B boys, 12:30 p.m.; 1A boys, 1 p.m.; 3A girls, 1:30 p.m.; 4A girls, 2 p.m.; 2A boys, 2:30 p.m.; 3A boys, 3 p.m.; 4A boys, 3:30 p.m.
Returning team champions: 4A — Gig Harbor girls. 3A — North Central boys, Squalicum girls. 2A — Burlington-Edison boys, Sehome girls. 1A — Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) boys, King's girls. 2B/1B — St. George's boys, Northwest Christian (Lacey) girls.

Notes: Vashon Island freshman Savannah Krug overcame tumor surgery at the beginning of the season to qualify for the 1A girls race. ... Tanner Larson, a senior from Seattle Lutheran, took up cross country this season to get in shape for basketball. He won Sea-Tac League and tri-district meet titles. ... King's girls, led by junior Olivia Thomas, won the 1A title last year and return all their runners. ... Seattle Prep sophomore Drew O'Donoghue-McDonald is the younger brother of Max, a two-time state champion for the Panthers who is running at Washington. ... Lake Stevens senior Joey Bywater was the 4A boys runner-up last year.
