TUKWILA — The Seattle Crossfire Sounders Women locked up their berth in the USL W-League playoffs with a 3-1 victory over the Real Colorado Cougars in front of 476 fans on Thursday night at Starfire Sports Entertainment Complex.

The Sounders (7-3-1) got goals from Zahra Lechek, Katherine Reynalds and Erin Redwine.

Lechek got the game's first tally, expertly heading home a cross from Michelle French in the 20th minute.

Eight minutes later, Redwine headed home a rebound for the eventual wining goal.

With a road win over the San Diego Sunwave on Sunday, the Sounders will clinch first place in the Western Conference and host their opening playoff match.

Golf

Gonzaga sophomore Brandon Crick of McCook, Neb., held on to win the 99th Nebraska Amateur Championship by one shot over Trent Price of Lincoln. Crick finished at 287 after rounds of 69-71-75-72.

Crick, the West Coast Conference freshman of the year last spring, had a 25-foot birdie putt lip out on the 18th hole that could have wrapped up the title.

After tapping in a 1-footer for par, he had to wait until Price left his 12-foot birdie try short.

"I think this is the biggest win for me. I've always wanted to win it, and it's always been the biggest tournament on my agenda," said Crick, runner-up at the Amateur last year.

• Longview's Mary Kate Morgan, a former Gonzaga golfer, lost her second-round match at the 105th North & South Women's Amateur in North Carolina. Ninth-seeded Emma Bennett of Australia downed Morgan, the 41st seed, 1 up at Pinehurst No. 2.

Morgan was making her third straight appearance in the North & South and advanced to match play for the second straight year.
