Hawks scrimmage set for Memorial

The Seahawks announced details Wednesday for their mid-training camp intrasquad scrimmage Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. at the Seattle Center's Memorial Stadium.

Tickets go on sale Monday — $12 for adults, $5 for youths (ages 6-17) and free for kids 5 and under. Seating for the 90-minute scrimmage is general admission, and gates open at 2 p.m.

The Seahawks will also host a youth camp (ages 8-14) beginning at 2 p.m., and participants will work with Seahawks alumni and local high-school coaches in learning football fundamentals.

Boulware's "vacation"

Some players are taking the last week before NFL training camps open to rest up and finish vacations, but Seahawks safety Michael Boulware isn't one of them.

Boulware is among a group of veteran players working out at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla., with Tom Shaw, one of the league's leading sprint and conditioning coaches.

That Boulware is running and doing drills for two hours followed by a weightlifting session says something about the importance of this season for the fourth-year pro. Boulware lost his starting job at strong safety for half of last season, though injuries in the secondary got him back into the starting lineup two games before the playoffs.

Before 2006, Boulware started 20 consecutive regular-season games after a fine rookie year in 2004.

Boulware is currently listed behind recently acquired Brian Russell at strong safety.
