Lauren Jackson scored 21 of her 30 points in the second half when the Seattle Storm broke open a close game and went on to an 84-71 victory over the winless Houston Comets on Friday night.
Jackson made a 3-pointer and a baseline jumper at the start of the fourth quarter to give the Storm (5-4) a 14-point lead.
Hamchetou Maiga-Ba led the Comets (0-9) with 18 points, while Tina Thompson and Michelle Snow both had 12.
Jackson hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and matched her career high with five in the game. She had five 3s against Houston in 2001.
Jackson, who also had seven rebounds, scored four points early in the second half to give the Storm a nine-point lead before the Comets rallied within 52-50 midway through the third quarter. But Jackson scored five points and Betty Lennox had four as the Storm took a 63-54 lead at the end of the quarter.
Lennox was 9-for-9 from the free throw line and finished with 18 points.
The Storm were 27-of-33 from the line while the Comets were 11-of-12.
Seattle was coming off a 90-62 loss at Indiana on Wednesday.
Houston, meanwhile, had its closest loss of the season the same day, 74-71 at Los Angeles.
