Washington forward Jon Brockman has been invited to try out for the USA Basketball Pan American Games team this summer.
Tryouts are July 12-14 in Haverford, Pa. The basketball portion of the Pan American Games is July 25-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The team will be coached by Jay Wright of Villanova.
Also reportedly among the 35 players to try out are Washington State's Derrick Low and Kyle Weaver.
The Pan American Games are an Olympic-style athletic competition held once every four years — in the year before the Olympics — featuring countries from North, South and Central America as well as the Caribbean.
Brockman, a graduate of Snohomish High School, was an All-Pac-10 selection last season as a sophomore.
New uniforms
A UW spokesman confirmed that the men's basketball team will unveil new uniforms for the 2007-08 season along the lines of those debuted by several schools late last year, notably Arizona, Ohio State and Florida.
The uniforms are part of Nike's new System of Dress line, which the company says features "a Nike Fitted Jersey — a lightweight, breathable, form-fitting top — and long, lightweight, loose-fitted shorts."
The women's team will wear a version of the new style, as well. The school will officially unveil the new uniforms in the fall.
