PULLMAN — Backup junior quarterback Gary Rogers threw a pair of touchdown passes and senior running back Kevin McCall rushed for 98 yards Friday to highlight Washington State's second spring scrimmage.

Rogers completed 6 of 9 passes for 52 yards with TD throws of 14 yards to Brandon Gibson and 3 yards to tight end Jed Collins.

McCall scored on a 42-yard run and carried the ball 16 times.

Kickers Loren Langley and Romeen Abdollmohammadi combined to make 9 of 10 field-goal attempts.

"We got a little better today," said coach Bill Doba. "We emphasized the run in this scrimmage and we ran the ball a little bit better.

"We threw the ball and gave Gary a lot of reps. ...

"Overall, we are progressing. We are taking it slow."

From team reports.
