Defensive tackle Craig Terrill signed a one-year tender offer from the Seahawks, his agent said Tuesday.

The tender will pay him $850,000 for the 2007 season, after which he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Terrill was a restricted free agent, and the Seahawks had the right to match any offer he received. The Seahawks would have received a sixth-round pick as compensation had Terrill — whom Seattle drafted in the sixth round in 2004 — signed with another team.

Terrill has played three seasons for the Seahawks and has been part of the team's defensive-tackle rotation the past two seasons. He had three sacks in the team's victory over the Raiders on Nov. 6, but did not play after Dec. 10 because of a knee injury.

Carr on his way

Free-agent quarterback David Carr wrapped up his visit with the Carolina Panthers and is headed to Seattle today to begin a two-day meeting with the Seahawks.

The Houston Texans released Carr last month after they traded for former Atlanta backup Matt Schaub.

Carr, a five-year starter in Houston, has drawn interest from several teams including Seattle, which likely views him as insurance in case starter Matt Hasselbeck doesn't fully come back from shoulder surgery.

Notes

• Seahawks DB Jordan Babineaux, another restricted free agent, has yet to sign his $1.3 million tender and has until April 20 to sign an offer sheet with any other team. If he doesn't sign, Babineaux has until April 27 to ink his tender with Seattle.

The three-year pro did sign a workout agreement with the team that allows him to take part in the Seahawks' offseason workout program that recently got under way in Kirkland.
