SPOKANE — The Spokane Chiefs scored three goals during a 13:33 span of the third period to beat the Everett Silvertips 3-1 Wednesday and knot their first-round Western Hockey League playoff series at two games apiece.

The Silvertips took a 1-0 lead in the second period when Peter Mueller scored at the 3:31 mark. Moises Gutierrez and Zach Hamill had assists on the goal.

Everett had outshot Spokane 22-7 through the first 40 minutes of the game. But goalie Dustin Tokarski kept the home team in the game, finishing with 29 saves.

And the Chiefs gave the crowd of 4,408 at Veterans Memorial Arena something to cheer about by challenging Silvertips goalie Leland Irving in the final period.

David Rutherford and Derek Ryan scored on Irving, and Chris Bruton added an empty-netter for the final margin.

Drayson Bowman had two assists for the Chiefs.

Everett was 0 for 6 on power plays; Spokane didn't convert with a man advantage in four chances.

Compiled from league reports.
