Gonzaga is rated 16th in both the Associated Press media poll and the USA Today-ESPN coaches poll this week.

The Zags (9-2), who beat Washington 97-77 Saturday night in Spokane, are one spot ahead of the Huskies (7-1) in the AP poll. Meanwhile, the 31 coaches who voted in the USA Today-ESPN poll rank UW 14th — two places above Gonzaga.

Gonzaga was 18th in both polls last week, when Washington was 13th in the AP poll and eighth in the coaches poll.

Both polls agree on the top seven teams. In order, they are UCLA, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Ohio State, Florida, Duke and Wisconsin.

Four Pac-10 teams are ranked in the AP Top 25: UCLA, No. 10 Arizona, Washington and No. 22 Oregon. Oregon is in the poll for the first time since Jan. 28, 2003.

According to the conference office, the last time four Pac-10 men's teams were in the Top 25 was in the final poll during the 2001-02 season (No. 7 Arizona, No. 11 Oregon, No. 18 USC and No. 24 Stanford). Pac-10 teams are 68-16 in nonconference games.

WSU's Harmeling earns Pac-10 honor

Washington State forward Daven Harmeling was selected the Pac-10 men's player of the week for Dec. 4-10.

Harmeling, a redshirt sophomore from Grand Junction, Colo., averaged 15.5 points in two WSU victories last week. He had a career-high 20 points to help the Cougars beat Gonzaga 77-67 last Tuesday in Pullman. Harmeling scored 11 points in a 66-54 win at Idaho as WSU improved to 9-1.

California sophomore Ashley Walker was voted the Pac-10 women's player of the week.
