Huskies QB DuRocher diagnosed with brain tumor

Washington quarterback Johnny DuRocher has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and will likely never again play football, sources have confirmed.

DuRocher, who just completed his junior season for the Huskies, suffered a concussion in a game against Stanford on Nov. 11. The brain tumor was discovered in medical exams that followed that injury.

DuRocher is expected to have surgery Nov. 30. DuRocher played in two games this season, completing 5 of 17 passes with two interceptions and one touchdown.

Scout.com reported that the tumor is not expected to be cancerous.

A graduate of Bethel High School in Spanaway, DuRocher signed with Oregon and spent the 2003 and part of the 2004 seasons with the Ducks. He left Oregon in September 2004 and after graduating from a junior college, transferred to Washington and became eligible last fall.

The Huskies held a moment of silence for DuRocher in their locker room moments after the Apple Cup.

His loss means the Huskies will have just one experienced quarterback returning, Carl Bonnell. Jake Locker, a freshman who redshirted this season, will also be in the mix and the Huskies have a commitment from a high school quarterback in Southern California, Ronnie Fouch.
