WSU Football Notebook | Cougs' goal: Win final four

Buoyed by their 34-23 upset over Oregon, the Cougars are now talking about running the table to postseason.

"We definitely believe the rest of the way, starting with UCLA, we can win them all," said Washington State receiver Jason Hill on Monday.

The Cougars (5-3, 3-2 Pac-10) are one-point favorites to beat the Bruins (4-3, 2-2) on Saturday in a 4 p.m. road game that will be televised by ABC.

After UCLA, the Cougars play Arizona in Pullman, travel to Arizona State and then host Washington. The Cougs need one more victory to qualify for a bowl game.

Hill said current upperclassmen who were on the 2003 Holiday Bowl squad are reminding underclassmen how much fun a bowl trip is, including "all the gear we get."

Notes

• The Bruins' quarterback for a third straight game will be redshirt sophomore Patrick Cowan, son of former UW Husky Tim Cowan. Senior Ben Olson remains out after suffering a knee injury Oct. 7 against Arizona.

• Three WSU starters who left the Oregon game with injuries were listed as "out indefinitely" on Monday's injury report.

They are starting defensive tackles Aaron Johnson (right elbow sprain) and Ropati Pitoitua (right knee sprain) plus starting right guard Andy Roof (right heel bruise and ankle sprain).

Defensive tackle Feveae'i Ahmu, who won a starting job in camp but only has been able to play in two games, remains out with a stress fracture in his left foot.

Starting cornerback Tyron Brackenridge (hamstring) is listed under the "no practice" category but said last Saturday he expects to play against the Bruins.

The most encouraging news for Cougars fans on the injury report is that starting tight end Cody Boyd (high ankle sprain) has been upgraded from "no practice" to "limited."

• Cougars strong safety Eric Frampton and punter Darryl Blunt have been honored as Pac-10 defensive and special-teams players of the week.

Frampton had a career-high 16 tackles, including nine solo, to lead the WSU defense against Oregon. The senior leads WSU in tackles at 9.2 per game.

Blunt put the Ducks in poor field position on all three of his punts as he averaged 49.3 yards, none of which were returned.
