The Associated Press

AUSTIN, Texas — Washington (35-24), the tournament's No. 14 seed, lost to third-seeded Texas (53-7) in the first game of a best-of-three Super Regional today. Game 2 is set for 1 p.m. Saturday on ESPN; and if Game 3 is necessary, it will be played at 6 p.m. Saturday and shown on ESPN2. KKNW (1150 AM) will also carry the games. The winner advances to the eight-team Women's College World Series, where UW has appeared seven times in 13 seasons, most recently in 2004.
