1. Reggie Bush
USC, 6-0, 201

2. DeAngelo Williams
Memphis, 5-9, 214
Comment: Small, but huge college numbers don't lie.
3. Laurence Maroney
Minnesota, 5-11, 217
Comment: Shouldn't last beyond late first round.
4. LenDale White
USC, 6-1, 238
Comment: Hamstring injury and "fat boy" tag from unidentified NFL exec dropped his stock.
5. Maurice Drew
UCLA, 5-6 ˝, 207
Comment: Has drawn comparisons to NFL RB Brian Westbrook; good return specialist.
Position summary
Bush is the big name, but there are good backs aplenty in the draft. The problem many of them might face is that there isn't a demand or need among most teams for running backs because such issues were addressed in free agency. Bush should make an immediate impact, and players such as Williams and Maroney might be chosen mainly because they are the best players available and not because teams need a runner.
Joseph Addai of LSU is also a top prospect whose versatility should lead to a second-round selection. At fullback, Garrett Mills of Tulsa, a former tight end, appears to be the best prospect and could be a fourth- or fifth-round pick. The other best fullbacks will also be chosen on day two.
Seahawks slant
With Shaun Alexander and Maurice Morris back with the team and under contract, plus the continuing development of Leonard Weaver and the versatility of Josh Scobey, it seems that if the Seahawks pick a ball carrier it will happen on the second day. Fullback, however, could be addressed because of Mack Strong's advancing age and the lack of a true fullback to back him up.
Former Washington State running back Jerome Harrison could sneak into the first day of picks, likely the third round.
