Local Golf Notes: Bellevue to open new 5th

Seattle Times staff reporter

The rebuilt fifth hole and the new tees on No. 6 at Bellevue Municipal will open Saturday.

The par-4 fifth hole will have a new green and an expanded lake that will now come into play off the tee. The par-3 sixth hole is being lengthened to 165 yards from the back tees.

Bellevue Muni is among the state's busiest courses, with more than 60,000 rounds per year.

The facility is adding a chipping green that should open in May.

Notes

• The fourth annual "Ladies on the Links" tournament to benefit the First Tee of Greater Seattle will be Monday, June 5, at The Golf Club at Newcastle. The cost is $225 per player and non-golfers are invited to attend the luncheon for $100. To register, call the First Tee office at 206-265-3040 or register online at www.theFirstTeeSeattle.org.

Last year, First Tee provided golf instruction for 676 children and teenagers at Jefferson Park, Jackson Park and Crossroads Par-3 in Bellevue.

• "Understand How Golf Is Used in Business" is the topic of a business-networking event scheduled April 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Swing Doctors indoor golf facility in Redmond.

The event is sponsored by the Executive Women's Golf Association and the $30 fee includes program materials, swing analysis and light appetizers. Registration information is available at the chapter hotline, 206-781-5813.

Peggy Conley, former LPGA Tour player and a teaching pro at The Golf Club at Newcastle, will be the featured speaker on how to lower your score at the spring social of the Northwest Ladies Golf Association April 6 at the restaurant at Maplewood Golf Course outside Renton. The event is open to members and prospective members. Cost is $35 and includes appetizers and dinner.

The NLGA provides opportunities for competition, instruction and outings for women. For information, call 425-235-5044 or e-mail nlga@nlga.net.
