Gonzaga 90, Indiana 80: Key plays, stats

PLAYER OF THE GAME

The "other guy" from Spokane had a good game. Junior forward Sean Mallon of Ferris High in Spokane had 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs on a night when his much more famous counterpart, Adam Morrison of Mead High, was held to 14 points.

PLAY OF THE GAME

Indiana had cut a 15-point deficit to five with just more than three minutes to play when Morrison drove to the basket for a layin and was fouled. That gave the Zags a seven-point lead, and the Hoosiers never got any closer.

TURNING POINT

With 15 minutes to play, the Bulldogs got 12 points from players other than Morrison or J.P. Batista over the next five minutes, fueling a Gonzaga run. Morrison and Batista average 47 points between them this season.

KEY MATCHUP

The much-anticipated battle of the big men — Indiana's Marco Killingsworth and Gonzaga's Batista — went Batista's way. Batista had 20 points and nine rebounds. Killingsworth finished with 12 points and five rebounds.

BY THE NUMBERS

4: This is Gonzaga's fourth appearance in the Sweet 16 in the past eight years. But it's the first time since 2001 the Zags have gotten out of the first weekend.

14: Morrison's point total, his second lowest of the season (his season low is 11). Morrison was 5 for 17 from the field.

30: Gonzaga's 32-2 edge at the foul line (Zags 32 for 41, to 2 for 6 for Indiana).

Next

Thursday, in Oakland vs. UCLA in the Oakland Region semifinals.
