Hawk Notes: Holmgren says Jackson to start

KIRKLAND — D-Jack is back. And ready to jump back into the starting lineup.

That's the plan, Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Wednesday. Wide receiver Darrell Jackson took part in his first full practice in more than two months and will join Bobby Engram as the starters at the position Sunday when the Seahawks take on the Tennessee Titans in Nashville.

"How many snaps he gets Sunday? He might not get as many as he did at the start of the season," Holmgren said. "We'll just have to see how his leg works, see how his stamina is and those types of things. It's good to have him back, and he's right back in the rotation."

Jackson has been out of action since knee surgery shelved him after four games. Players jokingly re-introduced themselves to him before the team's morning workout.

"It's been a long time since I've been in the huddle with those guys, so that's kind of like the joke (for) anybody who comes off of injury," Jackson said. "It's going to be a good feeling getting back on the field and running on my knee and seeing how well I do."

Jackson said his stamina is such that he could play "for three days, four days straight."

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said he thought Jackson looked great in practice Wednesday.

"There was really no rust. It was plays that he's run over and over again with us," Hasselbeck said.

Notes

• Seahawks OT Wayne Hunter, 24, who has played just one game in his three seasons here and none this year, has been suspended without pay for Sunday's game for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, the league announced in a statement Wednesday. The suspension is related to minor assault charges against Hunter filed in King County District Court in July 2003 and the proceedings in the case since then.

Hunter was also fined two game checks, including the one for this week. Hunter's base salary this season is $380,000, and the fines will cost him $44,705.88 of that. The third-year pro from Hawaii is eligible to return to the team's active roster next Monday. He was not at practice on Wednesday.

Hunter was also suspended for the season opener in 2004 for the same reason.

• LB Leroy Hill has been credited with a sack from the Seahawks' win at San Francisco on Nov. 20. Hill and LB Lofa Tatupu were down for half a sack each for the first-quarter sack of 49ers QB Ken Dorsey, but NFL statisticians changed it to a full sack for Hill. With seven sacks, Hill is now tied with San Diego's Shawne Merriman for first place in the league in sacks for rookies. Tatupu, also a rookie, is tied for third with four sacks.

• CB Andre Dyson could be ready to play by the Seahawks' first playoff game if the Seahawks secure a first-round playoff bye, which they could do with a win Sunday, Holmgren said.

• LB D.D. Lewis is questionable for Sunday with right knee soreness and will be limited in practice this week as has been the norm.

• CB Kelly Herndon (left knee) could return for the regular-season finale in Green Bay on Jan. 1.
