Seahawks linebacker Sharper out for the season

Seattle Times staff reporter

KIRKLAND — Seahawks linebacker Jamie Sharper has been placed on injured reserve with a continuing staph infection is his right knee, meaning he will not play again this season.

The Seahawks brought up cornerback Michael Harden, signed Wednesday, from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster in place of Sharper.

Sharper, a nine-year NFL veteran, played in the Seahawks' first eight games before being diagnosed with the infection. He was the team's most high-profile free agent signing of the offseason and had never missed a game in his career until Nov. 13 of this season.

He has been out since then.

Sharper had 37 total tackles, 29 solo, this season. He started all eight games in which he played.
