Hamlin inspires teammates

So conditioned were the players to getting up from the highlight video and heading for the food table that they were rising from their chairs at the team hotel Saturday night.
And then Ken Hamlin appeared before them on the large screen. Everyone stopped immediately, watching with rapt attention as Hamlin spoke to them from his hospital room.
It wasn't live, but team video director Thom Fermstad taped Hamlin giving an inspirational message to his teammates and recorded it onto the end of the team's highlight film, an eve-of-the-game motivational viewing tradition if the Seahawks won the previous week.
"You could tell it was from the heart. It was really well done," coach Mike Holmgren said. "He was somewhat emotional. But I know how it affected me. My goodness, it was something."
The Seahawks beat the Dallas Cowboys 13-10 on Sunday.
Holmgren set up the message, checking with doctors for the go-ahead and then with Hamlin, who said he wanted to say something.
Hamlin, who suffered head injuries after an assault at a downtown Seattle nightclub last Monday, checked out of the hospital over the weekend and is recovering at his home. His mother is staying with him.
"It was just another reminder of how fortunate we are to play in a game like that," quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said. "Here is one of our teammates that would give anything to change his circumstances and be out there playing with us, and couldn't."
Cornerback Jordan Babineaux took the ball from his game-changing interception on Sunday, had defensive players sign it and plans to stop by Hamlin's home to present the ball to him.
