First race: 6:15 p.m.

4 I Believe in U Too N Chaves 2 119
5 Tapantears G Mitchell 8/5 119
2 White Pass K Krigger 7/2 123
1 Thats No Bull C Symons 6 119
3 Alarm System K Mangold 15 119
6 Ridingtherapids R Frazier 10 119
Speed has been lethal the past few years on opening weekend, so how about I BELIEVE IN U TOO? He broke his maiden in start No. 5 last summer and will try to make it two straight wins for trainer Vince Gibson, who does well with runners returning off long layoffs. TAPANTEARS, a winner of just one race in 16 career starts, will likely be the favorite as he dips in class for this 4-year-old debut. Trainer Bud Klokstad is around 33 percent with favorites, and this one will be over-bet. WHITE PASS is the only runner to start in the past seven weeks, and she displayed decent speed at Portland Meadows.

2 6 furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $3,500

7 Crane M Ruis 6 120
3 Runaway Briartic D Hoonan 5 120
1 Harbro N Chaves 4 120
2 Winterstarr G Mitchell 9/2 120
4 Badger Ridge K Krigger 5/2 123
5 Copia J Gutierrez 7/2 120
6 W. W. Dixie V Mercado 20 120
CRANE makes his first appearance at EmD and will be ridden by Mick Ruis, who has been highly touted. Trainer William Smith is 16 for 72 (25 percent) lifetime at EmD. The 6-year-old hasn't won since 2003, so expect a fair price. RUNAWAY BRIARTIC was gobbled up by his present owners for $7,500 last July, but he didn't pay any dividends in his next two starts. Now he's dropping in class for his 4-year-old debut, so he could win with ease or be up the track. HARBRO, who is just 1 for 20 the past two years, gets the fence for his 7-year-old debut. Likely to be over-bet, so maybe use him on the bottom of your exotic tickets.

3 5 furlongs, purse $10,200, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, maiden claiming $15,000

5 Rhapsodic Gold R Frazier 4 122

1 Snowbound Angel B Russell 8 122
3 Ima Jazzy Miss B Theriot 7/2 116

6 Omnia Vincit Amor G Mitchell 5 122
7 Holy Vision R. N. D Hoonan 6 122
9 Placer Creek K Krigger 6 122
RHAPSODIC GOLD was bumped hard in her only start and had to pass a bunch to finish second. Might show speed with last year's leading rider aboard. DE'S BOOTS didn't get the best of trips in her debut, so she deserves another chance, and the price will be fat. Trainer didn't win a race last year (0 for 12) but did win at least two in each of the first eight seasons. J JACQUELINE had 10 chances to break her maiden the past two years but was simply in against tougher. Now the drop in class comes for her 4-year-old season.

4 5 furlongs, purse $11,000, 3-year-old fillies, claiming $15,000/$12,500

3 Dim Sum Gal M Ruis 5/2 116
4 Call Her Starlight G Mitchell 8 116
5 Gordys Sweet Jordy M Peery 9/2 116
1 Amber Dawn F Valdez 15 116
2 O Two O Two O Two A Lopez 5 116
6 What a Talent C Symons 6 116
7 Quizy J Gutierrez 3 116
DIM SUM GAL ran five times at Golden Gate during the winter and finished at least third in each start. Trainer Bill Tollett was 13 for 25 (52 percent) with favorites the past two seasons at EmD. Expect her to pass a few in the last 100 yards. CALL HER STARLIGHT stopped big time in her last two starts as a 2-year-old after posting a front-running score to break her maiden. Trainer Craig Roberts has done well in the past with these types of layoff runners. GORDYS SWEET JORDY has won a couple of races in gate-to-wire fashion, and today's contest is just 5 furlongs. Trainer Ben Root's shippers are just 1 for 33 at EmD.

5 5 ½ furlongs, purse $10,200, 4-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $10,000/$8,000

6 Swing the Belle S Barber 5/2 120
2 Miz Heather V Baze 9/2 118
3 Yougottabe the One M Peery 8 118
4 Shes a Bit Shady G Baze 12 118
5 Dear Deputy K Krigger 5 118
7 Ms. Tahoe Ridge R Frazier 8 118
8 Pearl District J Gutierrez 4 114
GALLEY BAY, a winner of just one race, meets multiple winners today, so you deserve at least 6-1 odds. Trainer Dan Markle has done well over the years with shippers, and this horse has a fitness advantage on a few in here. SWING THE BELLE is not racing at Portland Meadows, where she is 9 for 14, with a third place being her worst finish. She has beaten just one horse in two starts here, and she's the morning-line favorite. MIZ HEATHER has finished first or second in 15 of 38 races at EmD. She likes to come from behind as the route distance is her preferred distance.

4 Confidential Call R Frazier 5 117
5 General Plan G Baze 12 123
6 Cowboy Cruisser B Russell 15 117

8 Palanca N Chaves 9/2 117
9 American Moment C Symons 12 117
11 Biggest Wagner M Ruis 8 117
JUDI'S KAT is one of four debut runners in this race, and hopefully he's got speed as he drew post No. 10. Trainer Tim McCanna is over 30 percent in MSW races for runners 3-years-old and up. SMILODON displayed some ability last year at age 2, and trainer Jim Penney should have him ready for a big effort off the bench. DEVILISH FACT finished at least third in four of five starts as a 3-year-old last year. Now he's saddled with the rail, so winning this race will be a tough task, and he'll offer no value.

4 My Buddy K Krigger 2 117
1 Pelly Pinecone J Whitaker 2 117
3A Sky Harbor G Baze 8 117
2 Magna Tice R Frazier 5 117
5A Beau Maggie G Mitchell 9/2 117
6 Tomorrow's Turn J Gutierrez 7/2 117
7 Rusty Rolls N Chaves 4 117
MY BUDDY should get plenty of pace to run at, and he'll be led over to the paddock by last year's leading trainer, Frank Lucarelli. He'll need a clean beginning as tonight's feature is just 5 ½ furlongs. PELLY PINECONE has the inside and good speed. His only option is to lead as far as he can. SKY HARBOR is part of a Bud Klokstad-trained entry, so figure you'll get 3-2 odds if either one wins. This one finished second in the first four starts of his career, so it wouldn't be wise to open your wallet and put a big wad on this entry.

8 5 ½ furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds, maiden claiming $6,250

3 Tarquin G Baze 6 121
5 Drunken Brawl R Frazier 10 121
6 Revival Site M Peery 15 121
7 Birthday Bash K Krigger 5 121
8 Big'n'jazzy N Chaves 4 121
10 Can't Catch A Lopez 12 121
11 Sun Marches On G Mitchell 15 121
CON SAY ONE is bred to like an off track and didn't have much of a chance in his debut as he was assigned post No. 9 in a 4 ½-furlong dash last year. Chance to upset or at least hit the board. THEE ICON has burned lots of money, losing at odds of 7-5, 3-2, 9-5 and 2-1 in his young career. Not backing him to win, as once again he'll be a short price. ROLLS OF MONEY has a little bit of speed, so maybe he can hang on for a minor award.
