Older horses Trainer Comment
Poker Brad T. McCanna Has won the Mount Rainier Breeders' Cup Handicap the past two years but finished a disappointing 8th in last year's Longacres Mile as the 3-1 lukewarm favorite.
Willie The Cat T. McCanna Crack sprinter who tied the 5 ½-furlong world record last year (1:01-1/5); won his first three starts in 38 days last year, but lost his next four.
Flamethrowintexan J. Penney Local connections made a bundle last year after claiming him for $62,500; he won an EmD stakes and the Grade III B.C. Derby; early Longacres Mile favorite?
Slewicide Cruise R. Baze Won three sprints last year in quick times, including the Chinook Pass Sprint.
Mr. Makah B. Jenne Finished at least third in three Emerald stakes races last year, including a gutsy third in the Longacres Mile.
Best on Tap D. Driever May have won the most exciting race last year as he prevailed by a nose in 6 ½-furlong optional claimer; he set the track record (1:13-3/5) in that race.
Turban J. Penney Was a rocket ship back in 2003, as he won the Fox Sports and the Bud-Emerald handicaps; he hasn't started since July 2003.
Salt Grinder J. Penney Gave trainer Jim Penney his first Governor's Handicap win since 1973 (Silver Mallet) last year; also finished second in the 2003 rendition.
Older fillies
Aunt Sophie C. Barth Named champion Washington-bred older filly-mare last year, as she won two Emerald stakes races in dramatic style.
Swingn' Notes B. Klokstad Won two stakes races here last summer but disappointed in the Oaks (at 7-2 odds).
Karis Makaw B. Meeking Finished a game second in the Oaks last year as the 2-1 favorite, and also ended up second in the Kent Handicap as the 2-1 pick.
Arco Iris J. Penney She's got the talent (won the Jack & Kitty Fletcher Stakes) but seems to be quite quirky when the chips are down.
Sariano S. Bullock This deep closer is always fun to watch as she rolls by her competitors in the lane.
3-year-olds
Seattles Best Joe H. Belvoir Named top 2-year-old Washington-bred last year after winning a stakes at Santa Anita.
Typhoon Aaron J. Fergason He's shipping in from Portland, where he was the talk of the town over the winter while winning four of five starts, including three stakes.
No Giveaway G. Forster Won three of five starts last year as a 3-year-old and was brilliant at times; look for him to win a stakes this year.
Jazzinaroundnightly C. Bouslaugh Hasn't started since winning the Trooper Seven Stakes.
Mr. Phantom Slew F. Lucarelli Claimed for $6,250 here last year, and then reeled off four consecutive wins while moving up the class ladder at Turf Paradise this winter.
