Nate Robinson will announce today that he will forgo his final season of college eligibility at Washington and enter the NBA draft, two sources told The Times yesterday.

Robinson, a junior guard, scheduled a news conference today at 2 p.m. at Edmundson Pavilion to announce his decision.

Robinson could not be reached for comment yesterday.

The graduate of Rainier Beach High School has been expected to enter the NBA draft for some time. He hinted strongly that he would do so after Washington lost to Louisville in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

"I have a family," said Robinson, who has one child. "It's time to provide for my family."

Last year, Robinson attended the pre-draft camp in Chicago before deciding to remain at Washington for another year.

While watching UW teammate Will Conray last week at a pre-draft camp in Portsmouth, Va., Robinson said he may attend the Chicago camp again.

Robinson, who was measured at 5 feet 7 ¾, is considered likely to be drafted in the second round.

Robinson twice was named to the All-Pac-10 team and was a third-team Associated Press All-American this season. He led Washington in scoring this season, averaging 16.4 points for a team that advanced to the NCAA tournament's Sweet 16.
