KANSAS CITY, Mo. Davy Arnaud scored two goals to lead Kansas City to a 2-0 victory last night over the Los Angeles Galaxy, putting the Wizards in Major League Soccer's championship match. Bo Oshoniyi recorded his second shutout in three playoff games for the Wizards, who will play in the MLS Cup on Nov. 14 in Carson, Calif. They will face the winner of today's Eastern Conference final between the New England Revolution and D.C. United. The two-goal performance in the West final snapped a 10-game drought in MLS play for Arnaud, who had not scored since the second half of a 2-1 win over New England on Aug. 21. Arnaud also went without a goal in two subsequent U.S. Open Cup matches. Kansas City beat Chicago 1-0 to win the 2000 MLS Cup. After winning the U.S. Open Cup in September, the Wizards have a chance for the first same-season double in franchise history.
Note Jacques Santini, 52, resigned as coach of Tottenham of the English Premier League for undisclosed personal reasons.
