MIAMI The Miami Dolphins have filed a lawsuit in federal court against running back Ricky Williams, who an arbitrator ruled owes the team more than $8.6 million for breaching his contract. Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene would not say yesterday if the lawsuit was related to the arbitrator's ruling last month. "It's in the judicial system, and we cannot comment further," Greene said. The suit was filed Friday, and was not entered into the court's online registry by yesterday. A message left for Williams' attorney, David Cornwell, was not returned. Williams left the Dolphins shortly before training camp because he disagreed with the NFL over a disputed drug test. He is seeking to return to the league. The Miami Herald has quoted Williams as saying he has failed three drug tests in May 2002, last December, and sometime last spring. Williams rushed for 3,225 yards in two seasons with the Dolphins, including a league-best 1,853 yards in 2002. Cowboys's Glenn done for season
IRVING, Texas Dallas Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn will miss the rest of the season after being placed on injured reserve because of a foot injury.
Glenn tore ligaments in his left foot in Sunday's 41-20 loss at Green Bay. Coach Bill Parcells initially said the injury was "pretty severe" and that Glenn, who had 24 catches for 400 yards, would miss at least two games. With receiver Quincy Morgan hampered by a strained hamstring, the Cowboys signed receivers Patrick Crayton and Terrance Copper from their practice squad. The Cowboys released defensive tackle Chad Eaton, a former Seahawk, to make room on their 53-man roster for the rookie receivers. Eaton played in all six games, starting the opener when Leo Carson was suspended, and had 10 tackles. O'Hara stays home EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. New York Giants center Shaun O'Hara did not make the trip to Minnesota for today's game against the Vikings, and his status for the game remains questionable. Giants spokesman Avis Roper said O'Hara remained hospitalized with a leg infection. If he can't play, second-year lineman Wayne Lucier will take his place. O'Hara has been at The Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan since Thursday. He is being treated for cellulitis, a bacterial infection of the skin to his left lower leg and ankle. Pats' Branch out today PITTSBURGH New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch will not play today against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of a knee injury. Branch, who was listed as doubtful for this weekend, has not played since he was injured in Week 2. He led the Patriots with 57 catches last season, but has just eight catches for 93 yards and a touchdown this year. Team spokesman Stacey James said offensive tackle Tom Ashworth (back), fullback Patrick Pass (eye) and cornerback Tyrone Poole (knee) all listed as questionable also will not play. The Patriots have won 21 consecutive games, including an NFL-record 18 straight in the regular season.
