Roundup: Knicks' Crawford scores 22 in win

NEW YORK — Jamal Crawford, a former standout at Rainier Beach High School, had 22 points to help the New York Knicks rout the Dallas Mavericks 102-86 in an exhibition last night.

Crawford, who has led the Knicks in scoring four times this preseason, scored seven points during New York's 10-1 run to start the third quarter. He capped the third with two fast breaks on consecutive steals, dunking after the first and finding Penny Hardaway with a slick behind-the-head pass on the second, helping the Knicks take a 78-56 lead to the fourth.

Dirk Nowitzki scored all of his 17 points in the first half to lead the Mavericks, who emptied their bench after falling behind by 20 points in the third quarter.

Erick Dampier, who Knicks president Isiah Thomas tried to sign in the offseason, had eight points in 19 minutes for Dallas.

Jason Terry, who played his high-school ball at Franklin, added 17 points and five rebounds for the Mavericks.

New York's Allan Houston sat out his sixth consecutive preseason game while resting his left knee.

Dallas was without seven players, including Marquis Daniels (left knee), Jerry Stackhouse (right thigh) and Michael Finley (right hamstring).

• Gilbert Arenas had 20 points to lead the Washington Wizards to a 97-85 exhibition win over the Charlotte Bobcats. Antawn Jamison scored 16 points for the Wizards. Eddie House had 20 points to lead the Bobcats, who were without rookie Emeka Okafor (coach's decision).
 
• Antonio McDyess had 13 points and nine rebounds, and the Detroit Pistons beat the Utah Jazz 82-75. Utah was missing three key players — Andrei Kirilenko (ankle), Jarron Collins (wrist) and Mehmet Okur (food poisoning). Rasheed Wallace returned for Detroit after sitting out four games with a sore back. He finished with 13 points.

• Marcus Camby had 15 points and 13 rebounds to help the Denver Nuggets beat the Indiana Pacers 98-80. Jamaal Tinsley scored 12 points for the Pacers, who played without Jermaine O'Neal, Ron Artest, Jonathan Bender and Jeff Foster.

• Corey Maggette had 19 points to help the Los Angeles Clippers beat the New Orleans Hornets 97-93. Clippers rookie Shawn Livingston had 14 points. Jamaal Magloire scored 21 points for the Hornets.

• Brian Grant scored 22 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers over the Phoenix Suns 111-103 in Las Vegas. Amare Stoudemire had 24 points for the Suns, making 16 of 22 free-throw attempts.

• Sacramento released Liu Wei, a starting guard for the Chinese national team. Liu joined the Kings shortly before their tour of Beijing and Shanghai with the Houston Rockets earlier in the month. He is a star with the Shanghai Sharks, Yao Ming's former club team in China.
