Play of the game: A 55-yard sprint for a touchdown by Oregon State's Dwight Wright that put the Beavers ahead 16-14 to start the third quarter.

Star of the game: Alexis Serna, who missed three extra points that cost Oregon State a win over Louisiana State earlier in the year, kicked five field goals, one from 55 yards.

Turning point: The second fumble by Washington fullback James Sims, inside the Oregon State 3, with the Huskies trailing 23-14. Three times the Huskies got to the OSU 3 without scoring a point.

Huskies lowlight: Seven turnovers were devastating. Two were on interceptions by starting quarterback Casey Paus, three were by Isaiah Stanback on an interception and two fumbles and two were fumbles by Sims.

Huskies highlight: Playing for the first time for an extended period, Stanback threw two touchdown passes and for 219 yards, and ran for 51 net yards.

He said it: "I just got tired of hearing comments about me being a wide receiver. I'm a quarterback. Let me succeed or fail at that." — UW's Stanback.

Injuries: The Huskies lost defensive lineman Dan Milsten to what coach Keith Gilbertson said was a dislocated ankle and a fractured fibula. Wide receiver Charles Frederick reinjured a hamstring.

Next up: Saturday, vs. USC, at Los Angeles Coliseum, 3:30 p.m.
