Nate Johnson and Jordan Malloch, both of Seattle, clocked a 3:50.735 in a qualifying race in the C-2 1,000-meter sprint canoe. Next: Qualifying, C-2 500-meter sprint, today; and semifinals, C-2 1,000, tomorrow.

Vladimir Radmanovic, Seattle Sonic now with Serbia-Montenegro, played 24-½ minutes, and had two points and three rebounds in a 67-66 loss to China. China's Yao Ming (27 points, 12 rebounds) helped knock the two-time defending world champion to its worst Olympic basketball finish ever (1-4). Serbia-Montenegro finished sixth and last in Group A. Next: vs. Angola, today, to decide 11th place.
