Is eight enough? The U.S. women's and men's eights race today for rowing gold. Plenty of locals will be aboard — Mary Whipple, Lianne Nelson and Anna Mickelson with the women, and Matt Deakin with the men. It should be televised on NBC's 10 a.m. broadcast.

Green machine: Sprinter Maurice Greene will try to become the second American in recent history to take back-to- back 100-meter gold. The last one? Carl Lewis, in 1984 and 1988. Also, there will be finals in the men's high jump, triple jump and hammer.

Seeing double: Twins Paul and Morgan Hamm will represent the USA in the men's gymnastics individual finals. Both are in floor exercise, while Paul Hamm also qualified in pommel horse. The American women will compete in uneven bars (Courtney Kupets) and vault (Annia Hatch).
