EVERETT — Jim Miller notched his Northwest League-leading 10th save as the Tri-City Dust Devils topped the Everett AquaSox 6-4 yesterday.

Despite the loss, the AquaSox (23-14) remain in first place in the West Division. They lead the Salem-Keizer Giants by four games.

The Dust Devils (20-17) are tied with the Spokane Indians atop the Eastern Division.

Miller faltered only slightly in his outing, walking one and giving up a base hit to Everett's Marshall Hubbard before getting the final out.

Jud Thigpen gave the Dust Devils early command of the game when he doubled and later stole home in the first inning. Soon afterward, Matt Miller hit a two-run home run — his seventh of the season — to give Tri-City a 3-0 lead. Thigpen went 2 for 4 with three runs scored. Miller was also 2 for 4.

Brian Schweiger hit his second home run of the season for the AquaSox, closing the gap to one run at 5-4 in the fifth inning. The solo shot was Schweiger's second of the season.

The middle game of the five-game series is today at 7 p.m.
