Seahawks By José Miguel Romero
The Seahawks are moving up the list in signing their draft picks, confirming yesterday that wide receiver D.J. Hackett, a fifth-round selection in April, signed a three-year contract. Hackett, who played at Colorado, joins punter Donnie Jones (seventh round) and defensive tackle Craig Terrill (sixth round) as the team's first 2004 draftees to sign contracts. Hackett signed a three-year contract worth $1.032 million, his agent, Jack Mills, confirmed. The deal includes a signing bonus of $112,750 and NFL minimum base salaries of $230,000 for 2004, $305,000 for 2005 and $385,000 for the 2006 season. The Seahawks also signed John Schlecht, free agent defensive tackle, who hasn't played since 2001, when he was a non-drafted free-agent rookie with San Francisco.
